The Heron is a small theatre housed in a listed building in a village on the southern fringe of the Lake District. As you can see, it was originally one of the old two-room Grammar schools of the 18th century. The attractive heron sculpture is the work of local artist, Paul Woodmass and the theatre was officially opened by H.R.H Princess Alexandra in July 2001. The theatre runs a regular fortnightly programme of plays, revues, lectures and musical events which are open to the public. We have a membership scheme which has a separate programme, and carries booking and special event privileges.

Our Artistic Director is always interested to hear from groups, organisations etc who are seeking venues for their productions. If you have an event that you think we may be interested in, please contact us.

Management and administration is done entirely by volunteers. We are always glad to have offers of help in any area of theatre work. At present we especially need people to help with technical matters (light and sound) and practical stage management.

If you would like to offer your skills (or even acquire them) then please contact Jeanette Barnes on 015395 60328
